Philosophy of Healing: I believe that the foundation which underlies healing and growth is opening to acceptance of exactly who we are, and where we find ourselves, in each moment. As we come into acceptance, our grip on our problem, loosens, actually allowing us to see the bigger picture. When we let go of judgment, even for a moment, we free ourselves to walk around a problem and view it from different angles. We gain a more multifaceted view of our lives. We open to our own creative process, and we can tap into the natural flow of change that has been there all along. \"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.\" - Carl Rogers. Education and Background: I began working as a counselor in 1986 in the fields of reproductive health and HIV testing and counseling. Since then, I have also worked as a clinical researcher in the areas of marital conflict, mindfulness-based relapse prevention, post-traumatic stress disorder and breast cancer, and as a social service provider addressing women\'s issues, G/L/B/T issues and conflict resolution. In addition to an undergraduate degree in Women Studies, I hold a masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. Therapeutic Approach: My approach to psychotherapy has largely been influenced by existential and Buddhist psychologies. In sessions I listen deeply and get to know you as a unique, complex individual with struggles as well as internal resources.
